The Author
Meet Chanell

Chanell M. Rohan, known by her pen name CM Rohan, is a proud native of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Growing up surrounded by turquoise waters, rich traditions, and the vibrant culture of her Caribbean home, she carries the spirit of the islands with her—no matter where life takes her.
🌊 Inspiration & Roots
After becoming a mother, CM Rohan struggled to find children’s stories that reflected her Virgin Islands heritage to share with her daughter. Eventually, inspired by the adventurous spirit of her nephew, she decided to create her own tales that celebrated his curiosity. As a result, her writing began to focus on stories where children could see themselves—their voices, their families, and their traditions—reflected in the pages they read.
📚 The Ziggy Series
CM Rohan developed the Ziggy on the Rock series as a joyful celebration of Caribbean life through the eyes of a young island boy named Ziggy. The first book, Ziggy on the Rock: A Day on the Rock, was published in 2023. Since then, it has received praise for its vibrant watercolor illustrations and engaging storytelling. Moreover, each book offers an authentic glimpse into the warmth, rhythm, and wonder of island life.
✨ Her Mission
Through her writing, CM Rohan brings to life the sights, sounds, and spirit of the Virgin Islands. In addition, she creates stories that help Caribbean children feel seen, valued, and proud of their roots. Meanwhile, her work invites readers around the world to experience the joy and imagination that define island living.

With each book, she hopes to spark imagination, preserve culture, and remind every child that their story matters.
